Robert Miller's Biography

I was born in Marshall, Texas in 1955. I attended Stephen F. Austin State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1977, and a Master of Science in Biology in 1978.

After graduation, I served in the U.S. Army for five years, achieving the rank of Captain and a Top Secret security clearance. My duties included:

  • Director of Community Affairs: Sinop, Turkey
  • Engineer Staff Officer: Sinop, Turkey
  • Executive Officer, Supply & Service Co.: Mannheim, Germany
  • Accountable Officer for food warehouse: Mannheim, Germany
  • Laundry & Bath Platoon Leader: Mannheim, Germany

After receiving an honorable discharge, I entered law school at the University of Houston Law Center where I was a Research Editor on the Houston Law Review. I earned my Juris Doctor law degree in 1988 and was admitted to practice law in the State of Texas in the same year.

I completed a one-year judicial clerkship with Justice Hal Lattimore and then joined O'Donnell, Ferebee and McGonigal, P.C. in 1989. I practiced as a civil trial lawyer, gaining experience in business and commercial litigation. In 1993, I began practicing bankruptcy law with Rodney Tow, a Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee. In 1996, I earned my Board Certification in Consumer Bankruptcy Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and returned to O'Donnell, Ferebee, Medley & Keiser, P.C. to practice Consumer Bankruptcy law.

I am admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, Fifth Circuit and all Federal District and Bankruptcy Courts in Texas. I am a member of the Houston Association of Debtor Attorneys and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. I have published several legal articles, including:
